Liposonix focused-ultrasound fat reduction
Liposonix is for a stubborn area of fat around the waist, not for weight loss. It suits people close to their goal weight who have a pocket of belly or flank fat that has not shifted with diet and exercise.
How it works
The device focuses ultrasound energy into the fat layer below the skin, heating the fat cells there until they are destroyed. The skin and muscle are left alone. Over the following weeks your body clears the damaged cells through its normal processes, and those cells do not come back.
What a course of treatment looks like
Usually a single one-hour treatment. Changes begin to show at around four weeks, with the final result at eight to twelve weeks. On average, waist measurement drops by about an inch.
Is it right for you?
Usually a good fit
- Adults within an inch or two of their target waistline
- At least an inch of pinchable fat on the abdomen or flanks
- People in general good health who want to avoid liposuction
We may advise against it if you have
- Weight loss. Liposonix contours an area. It does not reduce overall body weight.
- Very little pinchable fat in the area
- Pregnancy, or a hernia in the treatment area
- Implanted electronic devices
