Admission Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed doctor with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, or
  • A registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • All applicants must present valid proof of their professional license and accreditation at the time of registration.
  • Students are required to provide proof of professional liability insurance to participate in practical training sessions.

Description

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this two-day course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand Facial Anatomy for Botox: Identify key facial muscles and areas where Botox is typically applied.
  2. Evaluate Patient Needs: Perform consultations to assess patient suitability for Botox treatments.
  3. Master Injection Techniques: Safely and accurately administer Botox injections using different techniques.
  4. Understand Botox Properties: Comprehend the pharmacology of Botulinum toxin and its effects on the neuromuscular system.
  5. Recognize and Treat Adverse Reactions: Manage common complications, such as bruising, swelling, or ptosis.
  6. Ensure Safety and Hygiene: Follow strict infection control and safety protocols in cosmetic injection procedures.

Course Structure:

Day 1:

Morning (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM):

  • Introduction to Botulinum Toxin: Overview of Botox, its uses, and how it works at the muscular level.
  • Facial Anatomy for Botox Injections: Study of muscle groups, injection points, and zones of effect.
  • Safety Guidelines: Overview of pre- and post-procedure care, infection control, and patient safety protocols.

Afternoon (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM):

  • Practical Demonstration: Instructor-led live demo of Botox injection techniques for the upper face.
  • Hands-On Practice: Supervised practice on models or mannequins, focusing on common injection sites like forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines.

Day 2:

Morning (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM):

  • Advanced Botox Techniques: Treating lower face areas such as jawline slimming, neck bands, and lip flips.
  • Patient Consultation and Care: Practice conducting consultations, explaining treatment benefits and managing expectations.

Afternoon (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM):

  • Hands-On Practical on Live Models: Participants perform Botox injections under supervision.
  • Managing Complications: How to handle and treat side effects, including droopy eyelids, asymmetry, and other complications.
  • Q&A and Feedback Session: Open forum for participants to ask questions and discuss their experiences with injections.
